“The next four years are about protecting what we’ve built and preparing for what comes next. As our community grows, we need leadership that remains focused on the priorities that matter most to residents.” - Mayor Brad West
A SIMPLE PROMISE
I won’t be distracted by ideology or political games, and will always stand up for what’s best for Port Coquitlam residents. My focus will remain exactly where it has always been: Getting the basics right. Protecting affordability. Building a community where families can thrive. And delivering results for Port Coquitlam.
1. Keep Port Coquitlam Affordable
I will continue to keep taxes and utility fees among the lowest in Metro Vancouver. That means ongoing efficiency reviews, responsible budgeting, eliminating waste, pursuing outside funding opportunities, and ensuring every tax dollar delivers value.
2. Make Port Coquitlam the Best Place in BC to Raise a Family
We will continue investing in parks, recreation, sports facilities, trails, and community spaces that bring people together. Families should be able to live, play, and thrive right here in Port Coquitlam.
3. Build and Maintain Core Infrastructure
Roads. Sidewalks. Flood protection. Water systems. Community facilities. These aren’t glamorous projects, but they are essential. We will continue getting the basics right and ensuring infrastructure meets the needs of our community.
4. Strengthen Community Safety
Residents deserve safe neighbourhoods. We will build upon our work that has delivered a historically low crime rate by continuing to support first responders, invest in public safety initiatives, address litter and vandalism, and advocate for stronger action from senior governments on crime, mental health, and addiction challenges.
5. Support Local Jobs and Business
A strong local economy creates opportunity for everyone, and our goal is to make Port Coquitlam the easiest place to start a business and create new jobs. We will continue reducing barriers for business, supporting revitalization efforts, attracting investment, and creating the conditions for local employers to succeed.
6. Plan for the Future
We will ensure new housing meets the needs of real people, growth is responsible, appropriately located, improves quality of life, and delivers the infrastructure and amenities residents expect.
